Personal project · UK job search

A quieter way to find the right opportunity.

Hermes Job Alerts is a privately operated job-search assistant. It helps its owner organise job-alert emails, identify relevant engineering opportunities, and prepare a shortlist for review.

How it works

01 / COLLECT

Read designated alerts

With explicit Google authorisation, the local tool retrieves messages labelled “Job Alerts” in Gmail.

02 / ORGANISE

Extract and compare roles

It identifies job titles, employers, and links; removes duplicates; and assesses relevant opportunities.

03 / REVIEW

Deliver a shortlist

Promising vacancies can be summarised for the account owner's review. Email listings are not assumed to be live.

Transparent Gmail access

This project uses the Google Gmail API with read-only permission. Google grants this scope visibility of the authorised mailbox, but the local job-intake software is configured to retrieve only the “Job Alerts” label. The app does not use this permission to send, edit or delete emails. Access can be revoked from Google Account settings.

Built for one user, not a recruitment platform

This is a personal, non-commercial automation project. It does not offer public account registration, recruitment services or job-placement guarantees. The public website is informational only and does not receive or display Gmail contents or OAuth tokens.
